Live From the Divide is a community-supported listening room where every song is heard in its truest form. Jason and Jackie Wickens have created a unique gem in Montana’s live music scene, a place where storytelling and song take center stage and artists share their music in its most honest and intimate form.

In Livingston, Montana, a small mountain town at the gateway to Paradise Valley, the Empire Twin Theatre glows along Callender Street beneath its classic marquee and vertical lights. Originally opened in 1935, the cozy movie house blends vintage charm with new life, welcoming audiences for both film and live music inside its warmly lit theater. This community is now also home to Live From the Divide, an acclaimed venue cherished for its up-close acoustic performances.

The venue began in 2012 in Bozeman, where Live From the Divide created a reputation for intimate listening experiences and deep respect for the songwriter’s craft. In 2026, we moved to Livingston’s historic Empire Twin Theatre, where that same spirit carries forward inside a space that offers twice the capacity while preserving the closeness that defines the experience.

No distractions, no flashing lights, no background noise, just the pure, unfiltered voice of the artist. We brought that same spirit here, to a venue that seats just over one hundred guests, placing them in close proximity with the performers. Every note, strum, lyric, and breath is felt by the listeners, and the intimacy is equally cherished by the musicians.

Live From the Divide has hosted over 700 artists and welcomed thousands of music lovers, carving out a unique niche in Montana’s live music landscape. It’s distinguished by its “acoustic-first” ethos, favoring raw, unamplified performances from singer-songwriters and roots artists, free from bar chatter, bright lights, or loud volume.

Many notable Americana and roots musicians have graced our tiny stage, including Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Billy Strings, Charlie Crockett, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and The War and Treaty. These performances have turned the venue into a spiritual home for authentic musical storytelling.
