Proudly sponsored by the Pembina County Public Health.
Across North Dakota, outdoor enthusiasts have a plethora of options to explore the state’s diverse terrain, beautiful scenery, and historical landmarks. Here, in Pembina County, Icelandic State Park is just the ticket for those looking to connect with the great outdoors. North Dakota’s homesteading spirit is front and center at the park, where visitors are immersed in the state’s early settlements and provided with an array of recreational activities. From restored historic villages to the Gunlogson Nature Preserve and boating and fishing to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, there is something for everyone at Icelandic State Park.
Through the years, many changes and additions have occurred in and around the park, including the creation of Cavlandic Trail, which connects Icelandic State Park with nearby Cavalier. The six-and-a-half mile paved trail passes the Pembina County Museum and Cavalier Country Club and encourages users not only to leave town to participate in the many recreational opportunities the park has to offer, but also brings visitors to town to shop, eat, and connect with the community. The project began in 2000 and was completed in phases until it was finished in 2006. Cavlandic trail, open to hikers and bikers, brings you front and center to the beauty of northeastern North Dakota.
