Situated in the northeastern corner of beautiful Montana is the small, quaint town of Plentywood. Its past holds stories of trading posts, wild west outlaws, and Native Americans, including the surrender of Sitting Bull, legendary Sioux warrior and Chief. And while this quiet town isn’t nearly as popular as some Montana destinations, there is plenty to do in Plentywood, and Bolster Dam is a perfect place to start.

Administered by the City of Plentywood, Bolster Dam Campground is part of the Box Elder Dam recreation area. It is a popular spot for water-sports and sightseeing. Visitors can look forward to gorgeous pine and fir trees and beautiful views of those iconic red sunrises and sunsets over the waters edge.

Kayaking, canoeing, swimming, paddle boarding, and trout fishing keep you busy on the water. Hiking and mountain biking trails weave you around the water, allowing you to explore more of the park. With boat ramps, docks, cabanas, and a campground, wide-skied Bolster Dam Park is one of Montana’s best-kept secrets!
