1040 - Brush Lake State Park

When you think of white, sandy beaches, the mountain west states don’t typically come to mind. But did you know that you can find one right here in the northeast corner of Montana? It might seem strange, but your eyes don’t lie at Brush Lake State Park.
Brush Lake is a deep, clear lake, complete with, you guessed it, white, sandy beaches. And while you may not find buckets of sea shells, you will have the perfect place to picnic. If you are looking to cool off, head into the water at the public swimming access area. Because of the high alkali content, Brush Lake does not support a fish population, so you don’t have to worry about any fish sucking on your toes as you splash around in the bright, aquamarine blue water.
Even though there aren’t any fish, the lake attracts many varieties of birds, including ducks, gulls, and many others, along with birdwatchers who are wanting a closer look at the feathered friends. At night, turn your attention to the skies. Because of Brush Lake’s northern latitude and remote location, it is not uncommon to see the Aurora Borealis, painting the sky in awesome color. As a dark sky location, Brush Lake is guaranteed to bring some stellar night sky views that just may take your breath away.
Between stargazing, birdwatching, swimming, boating, and waterskiing, you have plenty of opportunities for fun at Brush Lake State Park, the only state park in the northeast corner of Montana.
