Welcome to Logan County Colorado! We’re glad you stopped by our beautiful little spot that we are so proud to call home! The communities of Logan County have endured a lot of changes over the years, but the one thing that remains a constant are the down to earth people always with an extra smile to share… The beautiful sculpture before you is titled Metamorphosis, and was created by our famous local sculptor, Bradford Rhea. Bradford suggests that this particular sculpture was inspired by the shape of the original tree, spreading it’s wings into the sky. So Bradford created this amazing version of a caterpillar spinning a cocoon, which bursts into a butterfly. We like how it represents the changes in life we all go through. When Bradford was asked what he liked most about this particular sculpture, he said it was the process—with sculpting, it’s a subtractive process, once a piece is removed, that’s it, there’s no going back, and sometimes we make mistakes. But the beauty is when you can work with the flaws of the wood, or the mistakes in your life, and let them shape you, or it, into something even more beautiful. We love that idea! Bradford is especially grateful to Logan County and Sterling for keeping his sculptures alive still today! We hope you enjoy all of Bradford’s sculptures and the rich history of Logan County along the Logan County Talking Trail—download the Talking Trail app today and Experience the Story!
