149 - Gooseneck Implement

Gooseneck Implement has been a lifeline for local farmers since 1974. In the beginning, the founders, Daryl Borud and Tom Burkett, didn’t know what to name their new John Deere Dealership. To solve that problem, they held a contest with their customers to land on a name for their business. One customer suggested “Gooseneck Implement”, in honor of the ‘gooseneck’ region of Ward County. Also fitting because Kenmare is known for being one of the most active flyways in North America for a variety of geese, including Canada geese, snow geese, and grays. The name stuck, and to this day remains one of the most unique John Deer5 dealership names in existence.
In 1989, Kevin Borud bought the dealership from his father. Over the years, Gooseneck Implement has acquired other dealerships in the area, including Ward County Implement in Minot. Expansion in the early 2000’s brought Gooseneck to other local communities such as Velva, Rugby, Mohall, and Williston. In 2018, Gooseneck obtained Dakota Farm Equipment, a five-location John Deere dealership in southwestern North Dakota and northwestern South Dakota, its largest acquisition to date.
Gooseneck Implement is a family-oriented company that strongly supports agriculture and the communities it resides in. The success of Gooseneck relies on one core concept, to take care of customers. In the thirteen locations across North Dakota and South Dakota, the farmers can count on Gooseneck.
