It should come as no surprise that Garrison, the self-proclaimed “Walleye Capital of the World”, is also home to North Dakota’s Fishing Hall of Fame, dedicated to honoring persons, organizations, and institutions that have made significant and lasting contributions to sportfishing in this great state.

Founded in 1981, the Hall of Fame has been recognizing sportsmen and women who have passionately worked to improve fishing opportunities and fishing waters in the state of North Dakota ever since. Inductees have been honored for such things as their positive promotion of fishing, tireless work in establishing new ramps and cleaning stations, and commitment to educating and exposing youth to sportfishing.

The North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame is housed at North Country Marine and Motorsports. Along with photographs of all Hall of Fame members, you will also find historical and antique fishing items, significant to sportfishing the waters of North Dakota, for your viewing pleasure.

Fishing has been a favorite pastime of some for generations. Its sustainability and success depends on sportsmen and women who are devoted to preserving and protecting the fishery resource in the Peace Garden state.
