Welcome to the Dakota Territory Air Museum! Established in 1986 by Don Larson, and Alfred Pietsch and his son, Warren Pietsch, it has grown from two rooms full of donated aviation artifacts to a notable historic landmark that showcases military and vintage aircraft from every decade of powered flight and provides tours and other educational opportunities to its visitors.

Local schools have partnered with the museum to offer stem-based aviation programming to students in the community. Founder Warren Pietsch says the museum aims to encourage students to follow their dreams. “We use the Wright Flyer and we talk about two brothers who dreamed of flying and never gave up,” Warren says. “…Look at the way they changed the world, those two bicycle shop owners…We try to instill that in kids...”

Similarly, the Dakota Territory Air Museum began as a dream for its founders. Don, Alfred, and Warren flew in air shows and hosted pancake breakfasts to raise money for building and maintaining the museum. Thanks to the support of volunteers and donations, it continues to improve and expand.
