With art, forget the sky, outer space is the limit. It’s about the thrill of exploring. It really is a training ground for creative thinking and innovation. I love how it encourages a way of thinking that can be applied to so many things, from cool new basketball moves to new computer algorithms to new business ideas. Or even painting a moment in time. It’s all art.

In this mural, I wanted a way to show my friends on the east coast what a North Dakota big sky farm would look like on a windy day. Conceiving such a whimsical notion was a blast. I remember feeling a little overwhelmed at working on a bigger scale than I was used to. But I’m so glad I got over my initial jitters and did this piece. Among other things, life is about having fun and trying new stuff.
